Eczema is also called as
dermatitis. Eczema is inflammation of the skin characterised by itching,
redness, flaking, pain and small ulcers. Wet eczemas are also accompanied by
a thin and watery discharge which, later on, dries leaving thick, yellow
crusts.
Detergents, acids, alkalis,
solvents and abrasive dusts are common causes. Besides, cosmetics, perfumes,
nickel fastenings, industrial chemicals, dyes can also cause eczema. The
elderly, those with fair and dry skin and those with an allergic background
(personal or family history of asthma, hay fever or eczema) are especially
vulnerable.
Conventional medicine
treats this problem with antihistamines, antibiotics, corticosteroids etc
but this gives only temporary relief from complaints. Moreover these
medicines can not be taken for longer duration due to their harmful side
effects on the body. Suppression causes it to reappear again with more
